Directions

Open a client’s address in Maps from the Client screen or an Appointment, confirm the pin, and go — all in a couple taps.

Open Directions from a Client

  1. Open a Client record with an address on file.
  2. Tap the three-dot (…) menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose Open in Maps.
  4. Your default maps app (Apple Maps by default) opens with the destination pre-filled.

Tip: Long addresses wrap — you can still send them to Maps with the menu action.

Open Directions from an Appointment

  1. Create or open an Appointment linked to a client.
  2. Tap the three-dot (…) menu on the Appointment screen.
  3. Choose Open in Maps to launch navigation to the appointment location.

If the appointment location differs from the client’s main address, edit the appointment’s Location field first, then open Maps.

Which Maps App?

  • Apple Maps opens by default on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
  • If you prefer a different app, use your device’s system share sheets or copy/paste the address into your preferred app.

Keep Addresses Accurate

  • Edit on Client: From the Client screen, tap the address to edit line breaks, suite numbers, and postal codes.
  • One-off locations: For jobs at a site that’s not the mailing address, update the Appointment location before opening Maps.
  • International formats: Enter addresses in the common local format; Maps generally recognizes country-specific ordering.

Privacy & Security

  • Encrypted by Default: client records and appointments are stored locally and protected by the platform’s at-rest encryption. Only you can unlock them with your passcode or biometrics.
  • Map hand-off only: choosing Open in Maps hands the plain address string to your maps app. Solid Invoice does not transmit invoice, quote, or other client details.
  • iCloud (optional): if you enable sync, data is encrypted before leaving your device (pre-egress); iCloud only receives ciphertext. See Privacy & Security.

Troubleshooting

  • Pin looks off: open the address in Maps and adjust the formatted address in the Client or Appointment until the pin lands correctly.
  • Maps doesn’t open: ensure a maps app is installed and try again; if needed, copy the address and paste into your preferred app.
  • Suite or unit missing: include it on its own line (e.g., “Suite 200”).
